Well I haven't updated in a while, and yes my baby is here. We named her Presley Jane. She was 6 pounds 9ounces and was 18 inches long. She was born on February 19, 2010 at 4:59am. She was a tiny thing compared to my other two kids, which made my recovery awesome! Now it is just adjusting to life with three kids (which by the way...isn't easy!)
I know you all want to know my labor story...so here it is!
Kevin and I decided to go out to dinner with our friends Luke and Adrienne. We went to sushi and then afterwards we walked the Summit mall. I was having contractions all day and actually went to the doctor that morning and was only dilated to a 2, 50 percent effaced. The contractions never stopped and were never really strong, so I just thought my body was getting ready...we got home and I was still having contractions but told Kevin that I was too tired and didn't want to time them. I believe I said it was "pointless"! He wanted to time them anyhow, so we started timing them and about half and hour later Kevin was packing up the house. They were three minutes apart! So at eleven o'clock at night we packed up the kids and all our stuff and headed out. After dropping the kids off and his parents house we went to the hospital. I couldn't believe I was in labor...so proud of myself for waiting! This whole time I told myself that I was going to wait this time to see what it meant to "go into labor." After we got a room they checked me and said I was at a 3 and was 50% effaced. I had to wait an hour to see if I was really in labor. I progressed to a 4, so they considered me in labor and broke my water. That was at 12:30 (midnight). I was in labor for four and a half hours and then Presely made her way into the world. It was a crazy experience for me, for one I felt most of my labor because I didn't want to get an epidural unless I "couldn't take it anymore" and for two, I wasn't induced. The most disappointing part to my labor was that they checked me and I was 4 centimeters, they never checked me again. At about 4 o'clock in the morning, I "couldn't take it anymore" and asked for an epidural. I should have asked to be checked first because I finally got it at 4:30 and Presley was born at 4:59. So it was totally pointless to have, and I could have done it without an epidural if I saw an end in sight.
Oh well...I am just thankful everything went fast and without problems.
Presley is two weeks old today and is a total sass. She definitely isn't my "easy baby" but I love her just the same (except at night)!
You are amazing! Congratulations!!
